The Yukon Gold Folk Club is a concert series that presents small-scale performances by independent songwriters for engaged audiences. Hosting story-forward music in an environment where active listening is held in high esteem, YGFC is a pop-up listening room in downtown Guelph.
Embracing a progressive and expansive interpretation of “Folk,” YGFC prioritizes story over style, puts community before commodity, and eschews strict genre categories in favour of a story well-told.

In the spirit of Spring, we’re presenting two songwriters who will inspire you to consider change, and the balance of grief and excitement that it can hold: Alex Blue and Rebekah Hawker.
Alex Blue (she/her) is a Jewish-Mexican folk singer-songwriter from Aurora, CO. With a diverse range of influences spanning from Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell to Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin, and Gaby Moreno, Alex’s music carries echoes of nostalgia intertwined with contemporary storytelling. Her unique blend of folk songwriting and pop-inspired melodies sets her songs apart. As a neurodivergent artist, she brings a unique perspective to her songwriting, exploring her inner world as a landscape of its own.

Rebekah Hawker is an Ontario-based folk-americana songwriter and storyteller. One of ten kids raised in Barrie, ON, she brings the warmth, wit, and honesty of her big-family upbringing to every performance and song. With banter that’s one part kitchen-table conversation and one part stand-up comedy, her storytelling draws you in and leads you on a journey of honest intention.
