For over 2 decades now, the Guelph Film Festival has been presenting engaging, terrifying, and joyous stories, through documentary film, that demonstrate the varied nature of our human experiences.

These days, more than ever, these stories are critical. For our societies to move forward in a fair, sustainable, and equitable way, all stories need a space to be told and to be heard. The Guelph Film Festival offers that space.

This year’s festival focuses on breaking boundaries, fighting for your experiences to be recognized, and claiming your own voice. It is about the stories of who we are and how community, social justice, and the environment are intertwined in the fight.

This year’s festival promises to be another dynamic and engaging one with some exciting new additions. This year we are presenting our first Virtual Reality experience, Biidaaban: First Light, an interactive VR time-jump into a highly realistic—and radically different—Toronto of tomorrow. We are also proud to present our very first Doc-Making Symposium, a day-long series of workshops that focus on the business and envisioning aspects of documentary production. Also new this year is the first of our “High Expectations” series, which features a visually captivating documentary and some 420-inspired appetizers from The Wooly Pub.

As always, our festival showcases international, national, and local films, with visiting directors/filmmakers, community discussions, and an ever-growing film series for children, including our popular series of short documentaries by local kid filmmakers, Tiny Docs by Tiny People.
