Thank you to all those who came out and enjoyed some beautiful art and weather with us at Art on the Street last weekend!
It was incredible to see Quebec Street transformed by the 15th annual Art on the Street, Guelph’s largest outdoor juried exhibition. Downtown Guelph was brought alive with colourful displays of ceramics, jewellery, acrylic paintings, photography, textiles and much more, accompanied by the artists who made them.
Furthermore, the street was filled with amazing food, the incredible talent of performers and musicians, and the thousands of visitors from all over Ontario and beyond who came out to support the event.
The young and young-at-heart joined in the fun at The Children’s Art Festival in St. George’s Square with interactive programs that enabled kids of all ages to discover, enjoy, and celebrate art. Children’s Art Factory, Guelph School of Art, Play with Clay, the Guelph Public Library and the Suzuki String School of Guelph filled the space with creative activities. The Mini Makers Market showcased some young artists selling their wares and tugging at heart strings and purse strings in front of Old Quebec Street Shoppes.
Leading up to Art on the Street, the beautiful streets, shops, and eateries of Downtown Guelph displayed the our rich cultural community with Art Around Town and Art in the Shops.
Congratulations to this year’s Art on the Street award winners, with Best in Show to Gordon Leverton, People’s Choice Award to Susan Lapp, Best Booth to Amar Bhuee, Best Emerging Artist to Air and Earth Design, and Honourable Mention to Laura Newton.
Artists, keep an eye out for the Art on the Street 2018 call for submissions, which goes out in January.
