Guelph, ON, June 13th, 2019 – Returning for its 17th year, Art on the Street organizers are pleased to invite you to the Saturday, June 22nd show. Guelph’s leading art fair will showcase an array of original work and exciting projects from nearly 100 established and emerging artists.
Starting at 10am, visitors can walk this open-air art gallery in the beautiful and historic setting of Quebec Street. Ceramics, jewellery, acrylic paintings, photography, textiles and much more will be on display, accompanied by the artists who made them.
If this is still not enough art for you, then sign up for one of our walking tours. Starting at the Guelph Arts Council Information Booth in the RBC lot, tours will visit a variety of curated exhibitions in venues in the downtown core, and will start at 12pm, 12.45pm and 1pm.
Heading up the booths at the Wyndham St entrance is 2019 poster artist Jen Prior whose sweet illustration features on all 2019 marketing materials. Across from her is a new Art on the Street feature. This year’s City of Guelph Artist in Residence, Mallory Tolcher, will be showcasing her #GuelphMovesMe project. Promoting physical fitness on Guelph’s trails through an outdoor art exhibition, the artist will be on hand to talk to visitors about how they can be involved in this community endeavour.
For those with young children, St George’s Square will be transformed into the Children’s Arts Festival. As usual, it’s all about the kids making the art. Guelph School of Art, Play with Clay, the Guelph Public Library and the Suzuki String School of Guelph will fill the space with creative activities. Artist Meredith Blackmore will be guiding kids to play with colour and explore imagery and word play.
The popular (and oh-so-cute) Mini Maker Market featuring kids selling their wares will appear in front of Old Quebec Street Shoppes. 10 mini market stalls provided by the Children’s Art Factory will feature goods made by little hands.
Find food on the street too as Canadian restaurant Miijidaa and vegan eatery Boon Burger bring a selection of quick and easy bites outside. The Capistrano Café is the best spot to eat lunch whilst watching the kids play. There are numerous Downtown restaurants and diners ready to serve up a variety of delicious food.
