Each month we’ll feature a video from one of GAC’s musical members. If you’re a musician and have a video you’d like us to feature, please send a YouTube link our way along with a short bio.

This month, we visit multidisciplinary artist Jenna Kessler, who released an EP earlier this year. People may also have seen Jenna’s illustrations on this summer’s Taste Detours recipe book called “Little Bites: Tastes from Isolation”. We know autumn just started, but the lyric video for “Forest Black and Warm” features some beautiful winter scenery, and also a cameo from a four-legged friend!

Jenna Kessler
For the last decade, Jenna Kessler has been working as a farmer and illustrator, cultivating a relationship with the land and memorializing plants and landscapes in her paintings. In between, she was carefully crafting a collection of songs that reflect her unique, artistic vision of the world and careful attention to detail. Her poetic new EP, A Still Life, is the culmination of these reflections in musical form. These piano-driven songs are written through the observation of a quiet moment, translating that feeling of stillness into melody and harmony. The intimate themes are decorated with surprise ragtime twists, staccato horn lines, soaring cello sections, and howling harmonies.

Visiting Jenna Kessler’s website will allow you to learn about this multidisciplinary artist’s music as well as other creative endeavours. You may purchase Jenna’s latest EP on Bandcamp, where we like to remind you each month that they have committed to continue forgoing their share of artist sales on the first Friday of each month until the end of the year. That means you have three more months after this one to put a little more money in the pockets of Jenna Kessler and many of your other favourite musicians.

And now, sit back and enjoy this relaxing and beautiful lyric video for Jenna Kessler’s “Forest Black and Warm”
