Are you an artist who cares about the environment? Are you interested in working with others to explore ways that your work can address environmental concepts and help alleviate climate change anxiety? DVSA is seeking up to 15 adults of all ages with some prior art experience who want to expand and explore their art practice towards greater consideration for all living things. Apply for this free art course that includes studio sessions, public panels and discussion groups.
About the Course
This free course includes 4 Sunday morning sessions of making art in the studio with environmental artist and teacher Judy Major-Girardin. With Judy’s guidance, participants will workshop their ideas and images relating to climate change, culminating in a collaborative piece. Materials will be provided.
The program includes 5 afternoons of public panels presenting thematic conversations on art and the environment with guest artists, scientists and climate experts. The program is sure to be full of information and inspiration about how artists and environmentalists are facing today’s environmental challenges.
The studio class with Judy will reconvene after each afternoon panel for further discussion and knowledge sharing.
Eligibility
This course is open for adults of all ages with some prior art experience who want to expand and explore their art practice towards greater consideration for all living things. Art education and exhibition experience are not required, and emerging and self-taught artists are welcome to apply!
While the afternoon panel discussions will be open to the public, enrolment in the free studio course with Judy Major-Girardin is limited to 15 people.
