Homer Watson House & Gallery is looking for a highly creative, organized, professional, and well-rounded Events Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Director / Curator, this role will ensure the development and delivery of outstanding events, special guests, facility rentals, community collaborations, and outreaches.
This role involves overseeing all logistical aspects of the events, and building relationships with participants, donors, sponsors, and volunteers, ensuring that financial targets are met. Your creativity and expertise will shape our events, engage our audience, and build strategies that elevate our impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute an annual event plan that engages key audiences.
- Identify opportunities to expand the gallery’s reach through strategic collaborations, outreach, and events.
- Ensure the seamless coordination and execution of family events, special guests, and outreach.
- Oversee the planning and development of exceptional facility rentals.
- Work with the team, visitors, and community partners to ensure all events and experiences are accessible, inclusive, diverse, engaging, and relevant.
- Support the overall visitor experience and work collaboratively across team sections.
- Strategy development – Plan and implement events in alignment with goals and objectives.
- Engagement – Monitor, engage with, and grow online community. Drive attendance at events and programs.
- Reporting and analysis – Track and report on performance metrics, adjusting strategies as necessary.
- Collaboration – Work closely with other team members to ensure cohesive branding and campaign messaging.
- Return on Investment – Evaluate and implement improvements to achieve higher impact and return.
- Assist other team mates when necessary.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma/Degree specializing in one of the following: Event Management, Tourism, Community Economic Development, Arts Management, or other relevant programs. Post-Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies, or Event Planning would be considered an asset.
- 2 years of related event experience.
- Sound knowledge of policies, issues, trends, concepts, and best practices related to community event planning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of electronic platforms including Microsoft 365/Office suite, social media/social media management platforms (i.e., Facebook/Instagram, etc.), graphic design tools (i.e. Canva), Adobe Creative Cloud, audience research platforms (i.e., Google Analytics), and marketing automation platforms (i.e., Mailchimp).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and an ability to multi-task with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under tight timelines or with changes in priorities.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a cross-functional and team-oriented environment.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours as needed.

- Knowledge and passion for visual arts and working in a museum environment an asset.
