Thirdspace: Emerging Artist Summer Intensive Program, a new residency opportunity at OCAD University

OCAD University is now accepting applicants for a new summer artist residency running in June 2025.
Guided by an established Toronto-based, internationally recognized artist-in-residence, this program will bring together a dynamic group of interdisciplinary emerging artists, including those in the early stages of their careers and those embarking on new directions in their creative practices. Throughout the program, participants will have the opportunity to deepen and expand their work within a thematic framework. This immersive program includes a month of open studio access, mentorship from an established artist, use of OCAD U’s specialized facilities, and a final group exhibition showcasing the innovative work developed throughout the program.
Who Should Apply:
This intensive program is open to visual artists and designers who are in the final stages of formal post-secondary education or training, or who have gained equivalent experience through independent practice, cultural or traditional knowledge, and have received recognition from their peers. Including:
- Current undergraduate or graduate students
- Recent graduates
- Practicing artists in the early stages of their career
- Practicing artists exploring new directions in their practices
What’s Offered:
- Mentorship from an established Toronto-based artist.
- A month of open studio access which will serve as the home base for developing work.
- Specialized studio access, including Rapid Prototyping Centre, Fabrication Studios, Printmaking & Publications Studios, Integrated Media Studios, Drawing & Painting Studios, and Photography Studios, depending on level of experience and technical skills.
- Admission and transportation (where applicable) to cultural trips and activities that are a part of the program.
- A final group exhibition
What’s Not Included:
- Artistic materials. We encourage using low cost and recycled materials to help reduce economic and environmental impacts of creative production.
- Transportation and meals.
Price:
CAD $4,600.00 + applicable taxes. Accommodation, transportation and meals are not included.

CAD $7,450 + applicable taxes. Transportation and meals are not included.
