Get Involved as a Community Writer

Become a community writer for Guelph Arts Communications Committee!

Are you passionate about our local art scene? Do you have a flair for words and a desire to share the vibrant happenings in our community? Join us as a volunteer writer and become a voice for the arts!

Guelph Arts Council is on the lookout for dedicated individuals with a passion for writing and the local arts community. Whether you’re a crafty wordsmith, an art enthusiast, or just someone eager to contribute, your unique perspective is invaluable to us.

No writing experience? No problem! Our goal is to bring together diverse voices to support our local arts community. We invite you to share your insights, highlight hidden gems, and celebrate the talents that enrich our local art scene. We welcome writers of all levels, from emerging to experienced, and this opportunity also serves to expose your work to the public.

 What are we looking for?

First and foremost we want you to write about something YOU are passionate about: art, dance, theatre, music, and all other creative happenings in the community are welcome. For example:

  • interviewing an artist/musician/dancer with an upcoming exhibition/performance
  • writing a promotional piece on a local band or theatre group with an upcoming show
  • writing a review (of an exhibition, performance, community art event, etc.)
  • promotional pieces on upcoming local creative/arts events
  • an arts story series

 Commitment

As a member of the Communications Committee, your level of commitment is flexible. We encourage members to submit a minimum of three short articles per year. If you wish to contribute more, that is certainly welcome! Additionally, the Committee will meet a couple times a year, and attendance is encouraged.
