Job Opportunity: Curatorial Residency & Submissions Coordinator

Contract Term: September 15 – December 19, 2025 (Approx. 15 weeks)
Schedule: 3 days/week (approx. 21 hours/week)
Rate: $26/hour
Total Contract Fee: $8,000
Location: Hybrid – remote and in-person (Toronto)

Position Summary
Images Festival is seeking a Curatorial Residency & Submissions Coordinator to support
the pre-production phase of our 2025–2026 Curatorial Residency Program and the submissions
review process for the 2026 Festival.
This is a short-term, part-time contract focused on curatorial facilitation, artist-centered
communication, and submissions logistics. Reporting to the Programming Director, this role
supports the onboarding and project development of Curators-in-Residence and facilitates the
review of artist submissions. The position concludes in late December 2025, when the festival
production timelines for the Curatorial Residency begin.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, collaborative, motivated, and excited by
experimental moving image culture. We are looking for a clear communicator who thrives in a
facilitative role and is energized by working alongside critically-engaged artists and curators.
Flexibility with scheduling—including evening and weekend availability—is essential, as the role
involves regular engagement with Curators-in-Residence.

Key Responsibilities
Curatorial Residency Support
● Coordinate and onboard the 2025–2026 Curators-in-Residence, supporting their
integration into the organization.
● Schedule, document, and facilitate regular meetings with the Curators-in-Residence.
● Manage calendars, shared folders, and administrative tools (including the Zone
submission platform).
● Maintain clear communication between Residents and core staff.
● Contribute to the activation of archival materials by Residents through research and
documentation.
● Organize and preserve residency records and materials.
● Ensure a smooth handoff as the Residents move into the production phase.
Submissions Review Process
● Manage the submissions inbox, open call via Zone, and communications with applicants.
● Organize and co-facilitate the review process with the Curators-in-Residence.
● Track application data, reviewer notes, and feedback summaries.

● Coordinate transition of selected artists and filmmakers into the production phase.

Documentation, Communication & Reporting
● Create and maintain an organized digital archive of residency and submissions
materials.
● Provide timely internal updates and communications, and assist with public-facing
communications as needed.
● Assist Residents with drafting preliminary program notes, Program Guides, and
production requests.
● Participate in weekly cross-departmental meetings.
● Contribute to grant reporting, fundraising, and donor engagement activities in
coordination with the Images team.
● Perform other duties as directed by the Programming Director.
Qualifications
● 2–3 years’ experience in arts coordination, administration, or artist support roles.
● A degree or equivalent experience in arts administration, curatorial studies, film/media
studies, or related fields is an asset but not required.
● Familiarity with experimental film, video art, and video practices.
● Strong administrative, communication, and organizational skills.
● Equity-oriented, adaptable, and self-directed.
● Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects with attention to detail.
● Collaborative, flexible, and comfortable working independently.
● Experience with festivals, artist-run culture, or collective programming is an asset.
● Some evening and weekend availability may be required to accommodate meetings and
collaborative sessions with the Curators-in-Residence.
