Tangled Art + Disability is now accepting applications to exhibit your artwork at Tangled Art Gallery. We invite submissions from Deaf, Mad, and Disability-identified artists and curators, as well as arts organizations and other cultural producers who practice Disability Arts and Curation.
There are two different spaces you can apply to show your work: the main gallery space or the window vitrines.
* The main gallery has available dates for our 2027/28 season (September 2027 – July 2028) and
* The window vitrines has available dates for our 2026/27 season (September 2026 – July 2027).
Tangled is committed to advancing the conversations around Disability Art, and disrupting typical art practices with accessibility. Our goal is to foster art through ‘crip’ aesthetics, and support the transformative potential that Disability Arts can provide to both our community and society at large. We do this by cultivating art that considers disability politically and approaches the subject through a social and political lens rather than a medical problem in need of solving.
We would love to see applicants prioritize accessibility in their submissions, but it does not have to be a full or finalized plan. Tangled works with all artists and organizations who exhibit at the gallery to work accessibility in from the very beginning of the exhibition making process. Some possible accessibility features include but are not limited to: accessible sightlines of the art, ASL translations of public text, tactile pieces, and audio descriptions and captioning.
