Art Not Shame is thrilled to invite Guelph community members to attend the grand opening of their new Community Arts Hub!
The Open House and Block Party takes place on September 28th from 12pm to 6pm and will hold surprises and treats for the whole community. Acting as an anchor event for Ontario Culture Days, this celebration is the culmination of years of dreaming and hard work. This new facility aims to welcome Guelph and area residents into a safe(r), lower-barrier space where creativity, community, well-being and social justice are at the forefront.
The event will take place at of 119 Wyndham Street North. Guests will be invited to take a tour of the facility, engage in all-ages art activities and see performances by local musicians such as Claire Voy and Ciccio Spagnolo of SHEBAD and raia. Joni Nehrita will be hosting a Body Grooves workshop from 3-4pm and there will also be freebies, creative takeaways and, best of all, a celebration that will strengthen our community.
This event will also act as the premiere of Art Not Shame’s community art gallery, housed within the facility. Close to 30 local artists will be showing their work including Jessie Buchanan, Jude Akrey, Nimra Bandukwala and Alexa Collette.
We will have ASL interpretation during the speaking parts of the opening. Please follow us on Instagram for the latest updates.
