Earlier this month, Guelph Arts Council said goodbye to Damian Weston, who served as GAC’s Executive Director since June of 2022. Damian has moved just down the street, stepping into the role of Executive Director at Guelph Youth Music Centre.
Damian’s chapter in GAC’s history will undoubtedly be remembered for our move into the former eBar space, re-branding as the artBar in early 2023. Many artists and organizations have benefited from that move, using the space for exhibitions, performances, meeting space, co-working space, and more, serving GAC’s mission of championing and growing opportunities for Guelph’s creative community in a new way.
We want to thank Damian for his vision, leadership, friendship, and care during his time with GAC, and wish him the very best in his new role as he continues in service to the arts in the Guelph community.
As for how things look now at Guelph Arts Council and the artBar, with oversight and support from the Board of Directors, Madeleine Avery (Manager of Programs & Communications) and Preetam Sengupta (Manager of Operations/Interim Executive Director) will look after GAC’s affairs while decisions are made regarding a permanent staffing solution.
