For more than twenty years, Guelph Arts Council has offered an amazing annual overseas spring
arts and cultural tour for members and friends. Past destinations have included a wide range of
countries and regions, mainly in Europe. Highlights of these tours include intriguing history,
wonderful art and architecture, great food and drink including specialties of the region, excellent
first-class hotels, and some wonderful stories offered by longtime tour guide, historian, lecturer,
author, Jacques Pauwels, PhD. For 2023, the 25 th collaboration between Guelph Arts Council and
Pauwels Travel of Brantford will be Old Castile: Historic Cradle of Spain, a leisurely 14-day
circular tour exploring the less known and less touristy but beautiful and fascinating part of
Spain tucked between Madrid and the Portuguese border, covering most of Spain’s heartland,
Castile, as well as the rugged, relatively isolated province of Extremadura. Dates are April 13 to
26, 2023. These tours always fill up quite quickly, so, if you are interested, don’t delay.
