Ed Video Media Arts Centre & The Guelph Arts Council are pleased to present The Dusky Wing Film Club’s final screening of its second cycle on January 22nd 2026.
The Dusky Wing Film Club is screening Somewhat Wild, a full length documentary film at Guelph Arts Council.
In 2024, Marcela Echeverri started the Dusky Wing Film Club with the intention to share films that are rare, and tend to be overlooked by the mainstream. Through serendipity, Echeverri has come to know filmmakers from all over the world who create wonderful art that stays hidden under the mountains of media from streaming platforms.
She has partnered with Ed Video to bring these independent films to Guelph audiences and to bring cultural content to spaces like Royal City Brewing, Art Not Shame, and Guelph Arts Council.
The upcoming screening will feature Somewhat Wild, a film that takes place in the Basque Country and explores the experiences of rural communities who farm, hunt, and live there. This film is important to Echeverri because it places the lens on the multiple human and non-human duellers of the Basque Country. It shows how contradicting narratives can coexist organically in harmony. Marcela Echeverri is a musician, anthropologist, and improviser. She is an interdisciplinary artist who believes in art as a medium to develop a sense of community. She is involved with multiple arts organizations in Guelph and she is committed to increasing access to the arts for local audiences.
