I am a disabled and queer grade 12 student, author and photographer who is doing my co-op placement at the Guelph Arts Council and I am very excited to learn more about the artistic community in Guelph.
Specifically focusing on my photography, I have done countless photoshoots for my friends, family and even of myself. I have been trying to specialize in studio portraits and learning how to develop on the skills I already have with lighting and colour grading. I would love to work on my live photography skills, as I already have some mild experience photographing my highschools production of The Wizard Of Oz and I will be doing the same for our production of Clue: Onstage.
As well as my photography, I am also focusing on my writing and working towards publishing my own book of short stories. I have been published twice in the Teen Etch Anthology for my short stories. The first one, “Shoot the Arrow” placed third in the grades 9/10 section in 2024 and the second, “Elliot” placed forth in the grades 11/12 section in 2025. I am planning on entering the writing contest again this year and I’m hoping to write about my experience in being a part of the disability community and to bring awareness to chronic and invisible illnesses.
I enjoy scrapbooking, cross stitching and reading. As well as, playing card games and listening to a very wide variety of music. I like to collect different types of writing utensils so I have options to match the mood and feel of what I’m writing. I have a list of fun facts up my sleeve to pull out at any given moment and I like to keep track of funny things people around me have said in my infamous quote book.
I am looking forward to helping out the team at the GAC with their upcoming projects and introducing them to my music taste. I am sure that this co-op placement this semester will be lots of fun and I will learn a lot.
