The highly anticipated annual event, Art on the Street, is nearly here! Co-presented with the Downtown Guelph Business Association, Art on the Street features so many incredible artists, emerging and established alike!
Mary Calarco shares her favourite part of the exciting annual event: “The conversations and connections that are made between artists and craftspeople, customers, family members, new visitors, volunteers or staff all play a role in making Art on the Street a treasured Guelph tradition. For me, it’s the official launch of summer and this event is one of the gems that defines our community.”
Art on the Street is the official launch of summer for many Guelph artists and local art-enjoyers. With such a great variety of artistic mediums and creative communities, there’s something for everyone to look forward to.
Mary Calarco shares what she looks forward to the most about this year’s Art on the Street: “Like many Guelphites, I have a long relationship with Art on the Street. In past years, I’ve enjoyed being an attendee, a booth inspector, Art Angel, sidewalk decorator and I’ve sat on the jury numerous times. But this will only be my second time as an artist with a booth. My first AOTS was in 2007. It poured rain and I was three months pregnant! While I did participate in the two virtual events during the pandemic, nothing beats viewing artwork in person and connecting with people who are passionate and curious about the creative process. The best way to view anything handmade is in person. It gives customers a true sense of scale, colour and craftsmanship, and it gives artists the chance to meet their customers. Magic!”
This year Art on the Street takes place on June 21st rain or shine. Come check it out! It’s an event you won’t want to miss!
