Guelph Arts Council is thrilled to announce that submissions are now open for the GRETAs (Guelph Recognition of Excellence in The Arts), the city’s flagship celebration honouring exceptional achievements across all artistic disciplines from the year prior. The submission portal officially opened December 10th, 2025, inviting artists from across Guelph to share their most impactful work from the past year. The GRETAs were established to spotlight the extraordinary talent that fuels Guelph’s vibrant cultural landscape. From music, theatre, literature, visual arts, media arts, dance and craft, the event will celebrate the breadth and diversity of artistic expression that enriches our community.
The GRETAs Gala & Celebration will take place on February 28th, 2027 on the Main Stage at River Run Centre, bringing together artists, patrons, community leaders, and supporters for an unforgettable evening. The Gala will feature live performances, award presentations, and special recognitions, all set within a celebratory atmosphere that reflects the creative spirit of our city.
“Through the struggles of the pandemic and the subsequent years of uncertainty, we know that Guelph’s arts community has continued to create with resilience, imagination, and passion,” said GRETAs Chair and Guelph Arts Council Vice President, Paul Barson. “The GRETAs offer an opportunity to recognize and uplift that work, and to remind our community that the arts remain a vital force in shaping who we are.”
Artists are encouraged to submit their work through the Guelph Arts Council’s online portal beginning December 10th. Detailed submission guidelines, eligibility criteria, and discipline categories can be found through the GRETAs website.
Community members, businesses, and organizations who wish to support the GRETAs beyond artistic submission are warmly encouraged to get involved. Opportunities to contribute include sponsorship, partnership, volunteering, and other forms of community support that help ensure the event’s success.
