How Today 4U Productions is Inspiring Guelph’s Youth

Today 4U Productions is extremely grateful to Guelph Arts Council for the micro-grant that was received during our inaugural season.  The support was used to offset the cost of the rehearsal and performance space.

As art patrons, you know that the performing arts are important to our youth because it nurtures creativity, self-expression, and emotional development. Through music, drama, and dance, children explore new ideas, build confidence, and learn to communicate in diverse and imaginative ways. Participation in the performing arts also enhances critical thinking and problem-solving skills, encourages empathy by allowing children to see the world from different perspectives, and fosters collaboration through group performances.

Today 4U Productions is a vibrant youth production company, formed by 4 experienced theatre lovers with years of on and off-stage experience. Our team brings a wealth of enthusiasm and knowledge, having worked extensively with young people in the arts and education. We are passionate about creating a supportive and fun environment for youth to explore their creativity and grow as performers and as people.   Sisters,  Karen Allen and Susan Lawrenson, along with Karen’s daughter Meghan Barron and longtime friend Tyler Livingstone started dreaming about this journey during the Covid epidemic realizing there was a lot of space for this type of programming in Guelph.   Launched last year, Today 4U Productions has already staged two musical theatre productions.  In the spring of 2024 and the spring of 2025 we delighted audiences with two dynamic and engaging junior musicals: Seussical Jr. and Shrek Jr. These performances gave young performers the opportunity to build confidence, develop their theatrical skills, and bring beloved stories to life on stage. Both productions were well-attended and received enthusiastically by the community, showcasing the creativity, teamwork, and talent of our cast and crew.  In the winter of 2024, T4U produced a one night only 4 the Stage Showcase, highlighting the talent of our youth performers through song, dance and skits.

Once again, thank you to Guelph Arts Council, the City of Guelph and the community members of Guelph who support the arts.  You have allowed youth the opportunity to experience the performing arts in a fun, creative and professional manner.

Guelph Arts Council will be hosting a Microgrant Celebration event June 5th, 5:30pm-7pm. Microgrant recipients and members of the community are invited to give recognition to all of the wonderful projects carried out over the four rounds of funding. Guelph Arts Council is located at 37 Quebec Street, Upper level.
