Summer is a busy time at Guelph Arts Council, we are lucky to bring on two new summer staff in 2022 through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. We want to welcome our newest members of the GAC team, Madeleine Avery and Spencer Shaw!

Madeleine Avery is a familiar face here at GAC after working as our Experiential Learning Student this past winter. Since then, Madeleine has graduated from the University of Guelph’s Studio Art program where she specialized in printmaking. Madeleine is excited to be back at GAC and looks forward to engaging with Guelph Arts Community by planning events and exhibitions, such as exhibits at 10C Shared Space, this summer.

Aside from returning to Guelph Arts Council, Madeleine has plans to try out cyanotype printing making for the first time, drink lots of iced coffee, and perfect her peach cobbler this summer.

Spencer Shaw is new to the GAC team this summer! As a current student at the Lang School of Business in Guelph as well as a proven industry professional in multiple disciplines, Spencer plans to leverage his knowledge learned at UofG and in the real world to support programs and initiatives at Guelph Arts Council over the summer.

Spencer is excited to learn the fundamentals of a non-for-profit organization and looks forward to applying these skills with a community-centric mindset. When he’s not supporting the full time staff at GAC, Spencer can be found at the hockey rink, baseball diamond, or spending time with good friends and family.

Madeleine and Spencer will be working together this summer on GAC website, communications and events to make sure you all have a creative summer and stay in the know of all things arts in the Guelph community!
