Caleb Smolenaars (they/them) is GAC’s newest team member, taking on the role of Communications Specialist/Programming & Marketing Assistant for the summer.
Caleb holds a B.A. in Labour Studies from McMaster University and has over seven years of experience working alongside community organizations and not-for-profits. They bring a unique blend of community organizing and communications experience to the GAC staff team.
In addition to their professional experience, Caleb is a photographer and artist, with experience exhibiting at several shows and markets across Ontario. Their work explores the relationship between community and place, and they seek to use photography as a means for environmental advocacy and resistance. Their work has been featured by numerous Canadian publications including Canadian Geographic, Exclaim! Magazine, The Weather Network, Tourism Burlington, Tourism PEI, and more.
Caleb looks forward to working closely with the GAC community and promoting Guelph’s incredible arts scene over the course of their contract.
In September, Caleb will be starting an M.A. in Photojournalism & Documentary Photography (online) at the University of the Arts London.
