Royal City Performance’23 takes the stage again after 3 years

Step into the exciting world of dance as the Royal City School of Ballet and Jazz proudly presents “Performance ’23” on Sunday, June 18th, and Monday, June 19th at the Guelph’s River Run Centre.

Founded in 1979 by Mrs. Patricia McLeod, located in the heart of downtown Guelph, the Royal City School of Ballet and Jazz has been a beacon of artistic excellence for over four decades. With Mrs. McLeod still imparting her expertise by teaching ballet classes at the studio, the legacy she has built shines brightly. Today, the studio is owned and directed by Ms. Brandi Matheson, who continues to nurture the next generation of dancers with her passion and dedication.

The performance will present a fusion of dance styles. From the graceful elegance of Ballet to the energetic rhythms of Jazz, from the emotional depths of Lyrical and Contemporary to the vibrant beats of Musical Theatre, Acro, and Hip Hop.

Beyond the captivating performances, the Royal City School of Ballet and Jazz offers its students the opportunity to take examinations with prestigious institutions like the Royal Academy of Dancing and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. These examinations open doors to professional accreditation, allowing students to hone their skills and pursue their dreams.

In 2019, the studio’s last performance marked its grand 40th anniversary celebration. Normally held every three years, the anticipated performance of 2022 had to be postponed due to the unexpected pandemic, but the wait has only heightened the excitement for 2023’s performance. For some of the talented students, this will be their very first experience on the “big” stage.

Come and witness the culmination of months of hard work, dedication, and countless hours of practice by both the newer dancers and experienced performers. Feel the energy and passion radiate from the stage as they transport you into their world of artistry and expression.

This showcase wouldn’t be possible without the selfless dedication of the incredible volunteers as well as the unwavering support of parents, friends, and families who work behind the scenes: their commitment ensures a seamless and magical performance for all to enjoy.

In addition, all proceeds generated from the performances will be generously donated to The Guelph Arts Council. By attending this event you’re not only treating yourself to an unforgettable experience but also supporting the arts in our vibrant community.

Mark your calendars and don’t miss out on this exceptional opportunity. Tickets are available for purchase at the River Run Centre box office starting Tuesday, May 23rd, at noon. Grab your seat and enjoy an evening filled with beauty, grace, and the power of dance.
