Jane Graham was a much-loved and respected visual artist living and working in the Guelph area for many years prior to her untimely death early in 2005. Donations to Guelph Arts Council in her memory made possible the creation of the Guelph Arts Council Jane Graham Memorial Fund at The Guelph Community Foundation.

With funds generated and granted to Guelph Arts Council from The Guelph Community Foundation, Guelph Arts Council annually offers an award for a visual artist(s) to pursue professional development opportunities that will contribute to individual personal artistic growth.

Who is Eligible

Any visual artist residing and actively practising in Guelph or Wellington County and who can demonstrate a commitment to professional artistic development is eligible to apply.

What is Eligible

Any course, conference, apprenticeship, field trip, or other professional development learning experience that can be shown to contribute to the personal artistic growth of the applicant artist and that will be pursued after January 1, 2023.

Amount of Award

The amount of the award will vary each year, depending on income earned by the Jane Graham Memorial Fund at The Guelph Community Foundation. For 2022, $1000 or more may be available for awarding to one or more applicants, at the jury’s discretion.

How the Award will be Determined

Each year, Guelph Arts Council will appoint an award jury consisting of one or more local visual artists, one representative from Guelph Arts Council and one representative from the Graham family, if the family so desires.
